Project Romania - A Future by Design

Herma Schmitz, ECG Principal, has been doing important work in Romania!  In May and June 2018 she led four workshops in Bucharest with the theme: Project Romania - A Future by Design. The workshops were generated by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bucharest (AmCham) to celebrate their 25th Anniversary in Romania.

Over four days more than 300 people, representing government, business, academia and social services, participated. Together, through interactive dialogue, they created an inspiring new declaration for the future of Romania.

We declare Romania is our responsibility; a sustainable, prosperous
and inclusive country, with a value based society.

We are committed to drive progress through education, innovation,
entrepreneurship, infrastructure and good governance.

We stand united for freedom, integrity, trust and the rule of law.

Following adoption of the declaration, the participants selected four community initiatives: Governance, Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure and Education. Four volunteers stepped up to create teams and lead the four initiatives into active existence.  Herma and AmCham are supplying continuing support to the leaders to bring momentum to their work.

Project Romania was created in 2011 as a partnership between AmCham and ECG's Herma Schmitz so that critical constituencies in Romania would create a future beyond the country's entrance into NATO in 2004 and the European Union in 2007.
